Laser Vision Correction

LASIK Eye Surgery

Vision Correction can be done with Lasik and Wavefront Laser technologies. They are used to correct refractive errors, thus, minimizing or eliminating the need for glasses or contact lenses. It can correct more common vision defects: myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism (cylindrical vision). It can correct even very minute aberrations of the eye. How Vision Works

The Functioning of the Eye

In a normally functioning eye, light rays entering the eye are focused by the cornea and the lens of the eye onto the retina, at the back of the eye. The image is formed on the retina, which then transfers it to the brain.

In myopic, hypermetropic, or astigmatic people, light rays do not get focused onto the retina, creating blurry images and unclear vision.

The Basics

Types of Refractive Errors

Myopia

Short Sightedness

When the eye is too long, light rays focus in front of the retina. Close-by objects are seen at ease, but far objects cannot be seen clearly.

Hypermetropia

Far Sightedness

When the eye is too short, light rays focus behind the retina. Close objects cannot be viewed at ease, but far away areas are visible.

Astigmatism

Irregular Cornea

An irregularity in the shape of the cornea. Light rays focus on more than one point, forming a blurred image that distorts both distant and near vision.

Your Options

LASIK Treatment Options

Spectacles

The most common solution to correct refractive errors thanks to its ease of maintenance. Limitations include reduced peripheral vision and interference with day-to-day activities.

Contact Lens

An alternative to spectacles that provides excellent peripheral vision. Limitations include recurring cost, maintenance and a possibility of infection.

Corrections with LASIK

The most modern surgical procedure for correcting vision. Convenient because it does not hinder routine activities or cause infections.

Wavefront Customized LASIK

A new laser vision correction technique that corrects refractive errors and removes tiny eye aberrations — reducing night vision problems and improving quality of vision.

The Procedure

Corrections with LASIK

LASIK, or Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis, is a modern surgical procedure for correcting vision. It works by altering the refractive power of the eye by reshaping the curvature of the cornea using a laser.

Am I Eligible?

Should be above 18 years of age

Stable spectacle power for over a year

No other eye disorders like cataract, glaucoma or retinal disorders

Contact lens users should stop wearing lenses for one week before the procedure

Types of lasik surgeries

Femto LASIK (Bladeless LASIK)

A premium, all-laser procedure where a femtosecond laser creates a thin corneal flap, and an excimer laser reshapes the underlying tissue. It offers high predictability, quick visual recovery, and corrects a wide range of vision issues.

SMILE Laser Eye Surgery

A flapless, minimally invasive procedure where a femtosecond laser creates a tiny lens-shaped disc (lenticule) inside the cornea, which is removed through a micro-incision. Excellent for active individuals and those prone to dry eyes.

SILK Laser Eye Surgery

The latest advancement in flapless, lenticule-extraction technology using the ELITA laser. Operating at extremely low energy levels, it ensures exceptionally smooth corneal reshaping and rapid recovery, often within 24 hours.

Contoura Vision

The gold standard in personalized vision correction. It maps 22,000 unique elevation points on the cornea to customize the treatment, smoothing out microscopic irregularities for superior visual quality and contrast.

Other Options

Alternatives to LASIK

Phakic Intraocular Lens

Clear Lens Extraction / Refractive Lens Exchange

Astigmatic Cataract Surgery

Frequently Asked Questions

LASIK is usually not painful because numbing eye drops are used before the procedure.
The procedure takes about 10–15 minutes for both eyes, with the laser part lasting only a few seconds per eye.
Many patients can resume routine work within a few days, depending on the doctor's advice.
LASIK provides long-term vision correction, but natural age-related changes may still occur over time.
LASIK uses a femtosecond laser to create a thin flap in the cornea before reshaping it. SMILE and SILK are flapless procedures where the laser creates a tiny lens-shaped tissue (lenticule) inside the cornea that is removed through a microscopic incision. SILK uses newer, lower-energy laser tech for even faster recovery.
Contoura Vision is a topography-guided laser vision correction. Rather than just correcting your prescription power, it maps 22,000 unique points on your cornea to smooth out microscopic surface irregularities, offering superior visual quality and night vision.
Not necessarily "better", but they offer distinct advantages. Because they are flapless, they preserve corneal strength, reduce the risk of dry eyes, and eliminate flap-related complications. However, traditional LASIK and Contoura Vision are highly versatile and can correct hyperopia (farsightedness) which SMILE/SILK cannot currently treat.
Suitable candidates are usually over 18 years old, have a stable prescription for at least a year, and do not have dry eyes or corneal disorders. SMILE and SILK are primarily recommended for nearsightedness (myopia) and astigmatism. A comprehensive clinical mapping of your cornea is required to determine suitability.
